The New Forest Dragon goat's milk soap draws on a powerful local tradition rooted deep within the ancient landscape. A dragon once made his den at Burley Beacon, rising each morning and flying across the heath to Bisterne where fresh milk was left out to appease him. For years the dragon was fed, his shadow passing over woodlands, heath and villages.
Determined to end the terror, a valiant knight, named Berkeley, built a hide and lay in wait with two loyal dogs. When the dragon came for its milk, the dogs leapt, and while they fought bravely the knight struck. He had covered his armour in glass to deflect the dragon’s fire. The battle raged across the forest itself, fierce and unrelenting, until the dragon fell near Lyndhurst. His huge body became the hill at Boltons Bench, rising from the earth as a reminder of the struggle.
Yet victory came at a cost. Broken by the battle, the knight returned thirty days later to die alone upon the hill. His yew bow fell beside him and took root, growing into the tree that still stands there today.
This bold and elemental fragrance reflects that legend of fire and blood. Cedarwood and frankincense create a deep resinous base, layered with dark patchouli and warming spice. Smoky, woody and powerful, it captures the intensity of flame moving through ancient forest.
